Elise Sherman C.Ht, BSW

First and foremost Elise wants to remind her clients that we all have everything we need within us. The beauty of Hypnosis is that we access both the subconscious and conscious parts of our minds. By doing so we have a greater ability to make behavioral changes and thus reach our goals.
As a Certified Hypnotherapist Elise uses her background in Psychology and Sociology, alternative health and healing and counseling to create a blend of modalities to help individuals achieve their goals. She strives to create an environment that is comfortable and nurturing as well as safe and secure.
How Does Hypnotherapy Work?
Have you ever noticed how sometimes it seems impossible to force yourself to do, or not to do something, through sheer willpower alone? Our mind is made up of conscious and subconscious behaviors. Though we operate day to day with our conscious mind, it makes up only 12% of our total mind power. The remaining 88% is made up of our subconscious which contains a lifetime of positive and negative associations and identifications that make us who we are.
Hypnosis is a heightened state of focus and suggestibility and places the body and conscious mind into a relaxed state. The subconscious mind remains very alert and open to suggestions that create the positive changes we wish to make. Hypnosis is a technique by which we are able to bypass the critical aspect of your mind in order to make your subconscious mind—the 88% beyond your conscious awareness—more receptive to achieving your goals.
Hypnosis cannot work without your permission. An as example, hypnosis will only help you stop smoking if YOU want to stop, rather than the motivation coming from those around you. You are the co-creator in this process. The Hypnotherapist and you work together to create your desired outcomes. The hypnotic process essentially re-trains your subconscious mind to re-frame negative associations into positive ones so that you may create your desired outcomes in life and/or relationships. Through Hypnotherapy, we can empower ourselves to reach our innate wisdom and highest potential.
What To Expect From A Session
When you come to see me as a client, we will spend the first part of the session discussing your motivation for seeking Hypnotherapy. I will explain what Hypnotherapy entails and how the process works and you share what your goals are. The first session is also where I discover how you process information so I may tailor sessions and hypnotic suggestions specifically to you. Once you have reached a very relaxed, pleasant state of hypnosis, I will begin giving your subconscious mind suggestions for the changes that you want to make. In the sessions to follow, we work together to help you make these changes permanent. What we do during these sessions is to alter the underlying negative beliefs and emotions that are responsible for your issue and assist your subconscious mind to neutralize them or to eliminate them altogether—so you can feel better, be in control, and reach your goals more easily.
Hypnotherapy is a liberating and empowering experience!
